Six Strings

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0…and so on. We all know these numbers.

All the numbers are important but everyone has one favourite number.

My favourite is 6.

I had so many connections to it. My mum had 3 siblings, my dad had 3… Together there were 6. My birthday is on 6th June.

I had 6 friends in school.

My best score was in sixth standard.

And 666 was Satan’s number.

Isn’t it beautiful.

For me, it is more than a number. It is a necessity. I need everything in the count of 6.

My house number is 66. I have exactly 6 plants outside my house. Hope you get an idea what I’m talking about.

I also have a hobby. I like to preserve and display beautiful objects.

I already have 5 such items in my collection. And i have been on lookout for the sixth for quite some time.

It had to be a master piece. After all it’ll be the gem of my collection. I observed various objects everyday but nothing extraordinary had ever caught my eye. That is till yesterday.

Yesterday, i was walking down the road when i saw it. It was perfect. Everything about it was unique and beautiful. I looked at it and I felt like it was begging to be a part of my collection.

But i knew that i just couldn’t take it through usual means. So i waited for a good opportunity.

Finally in the evening, i found it not being watched by anyone else.

I grabbed it and put it in my car. Then i drive back home, all the while planning on how to decorate it.

By the time i reached home, i had decided… i would hang it in a display case using 6 strings.

It was the perfect idea. But it had to be hidden as the object was stolen and anyone could take it away from me at anytime.

So i parked in front of my house, ran to my basement and emptied the only cupboard i had with a transparent door.

It was the perfect size for my prize.

Then i went back to the car to retrieve it. It was lying in my car… Looking splendid.

I carried it to the basement.

Then i made a hole in it’s appendage for the first string. Suddenly, it started making a lot of noise.

So i tied a cloth around it’s speaker to muffle the noise.

On and on i went making other holes for my strings.

Once everything was ready, the object was finally quiet. It must have run out of power.

Then i put my strings through the holes and started tying them to the nails in the cupboard.

For one glorious second, it was just as i had imagined it.

But then one of the strings snapped and it fell.

I tried few more times, but everytime one or the other strings broke.

Stepping out of the pool of blood still oozing from it i finally accepted that no matter how hard I tried, six strings just weren’t enough.

  1. Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any recommendations for first-time blog writers? I’d definitely appreciate it.|
